DEKKI UI

Branding & UI Design

Visual Elements

The branding of DEKKI needed to be strong but flexible, allowing a variety of games to “skin” their own pages while also blending into our chosen style. We chose dark grays as the base and an iconic orange in order to draw the eye to the DEKKI branding. This allowed the game’s individual identity to shine while still keeping the DEKKI brand at the top of the hierarchy.

As a game strategy sharing platform, DEKKI requires a lot of customization. Custom icon fonts are designed for every new game, tying the aesthetic of the site together with the unique language of each individual title we release. Custom banners and graphics are also necessary for every title, changing weekly and monthly in order to draw users to special contests, tournaments, and promoted user posts.

ADMINISTRATIVE BACKEND

In addition to designing the user-facing DEKKI site for gamers, I was also in charge of designing the CMS and administrative backend for the site. Users with special permissions can be given administrative access to changing banners, posting specialized content, and controlling the creation of community tournaments. They can manage users as well as their content.

Separately, the DEKKI CMS was designed in order to allow internal staff to add game data and image assets to DEKKI as new games need releasing. Since game data comes in many different formats, the goal of the CMS was to take data received from the gaming companies and turn it into something DEKKI can output. This process needed a user-facing design to make it easy and intuitive to use. With the ultimate goal of opening up the CMS to DEKKI users in the future, usability was key from the start.
